It would be really helpful if someone from EVGA would comment on this. This is not bad for the card as it should be able to run intensive applications for extended periods of time as long as the temperatures are not too high. Worth a shot before rma " You could try running furmark or anything similar for a long period of time and see if the coil whine is reduced over time or if it completely disappears. I used 70% fan speed, vrm's hit 80c, core 75c. Did this 3 nights in a row and now its whisper quiet.īe careful tho, card heats up pretty fast using that method, so set up a custom fan profile or just use a solid 80-100% fixed fan speed.

i was able to fix it simply by letting my pc stay overnight on a crysis main menu screen, where the coil whine was at its worst.

I think lowering the max core clock would be an option but I do not know how to force it in afterburner. No loose PCI pins, nothing stuck in the fans (The buzzing sound does not start until I run Skyrim, and does not happen on less graphic intense games such as League or L4D2) This is the specific EVGA model in question EDIT* EDIT2* I tried lowering the max fan speed by 20% but the sound still persists, I don't know what's going on anymore but it doesn't seem to be a problem with the fans.Coil whine? I'm using an Antec Neo Eco 620watt bronze PSU and the GTX 970 is currently running on a single rail. Is this some sort of hardware defect that I should return for refund? Will Newegg (from which I purchased) accept it as a defective card? Or can I somehow fix it? At this point I regret buying from EVGA.
